Christ paid for our salvation with His death on the cross. He now offers this to us as a free gift. Receiving forgiveness for sin is as simple as using these keys to unlocking the door.
Acknowledge you have sinned: Before you can be saved you must first acknowledge that you are in need of salvation; that you have sinned. By this acknowledgement you come into an agreement with God about your present condition. “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1:8) “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
Believe in Jesus: You must believe that the death of Jesus paid the full price for your sin and that His resurrection gives Him the power to apply that payment to your sin account. You must believe that your good works are not sufficient to save you, but salvation is through faith in Christ Jesus alone. “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.” (Acts 6:31) “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Confess and renounce your sin: Salvation is not complete until you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. You must renounce and turn away from the sin and turn toward Christ. “If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9) “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
We encourage you to pray this prayer of salvation:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I confess that I am a sinner in need of salvation. I ask you to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me of all my unrighteousness. Please forgive me of anything in my life that is not pleasing to you. I believe that you died on the cross to pay for my sins; that you were buried and rose from the dead on the third day; and that you are alive forevermore. I surrender my life to you. I confess that you are my Savior and Lord and from this day forward I belong to you. Thank you for the salvation you have promised me in your word.
Amen
